Don’t say we don’t do anything for you… !
Spot Santa’s Reindeer Squad!
This is a bit of dark skies friendly Festive fun!
This printable worksheet aims to get kids looking up at the night skies and hunting down those stars! There are so many satellites (or even aeroplanes!) that you can spot from taking a long hard look at the night skies, the longer you look, the more you’ll see that moves and twinkles!
This game encourages the kids to question what is up there above them. If you are lucky, you might even get a clear night when the ISS Is visible (you can head to NASA’s website to track the ISS and see when it’s next in your area) or may be even see a shooting star!
See something move?
That’s the reindeer practicing their flying for Christmas Eve!
See something twinkle?
That’s a reindeer passing his annual flying test!
So wrap up warm, take a hot water bottle, a headtorch (you’ll need to turn that off when you get there to get the best view of the night sky) and a hot drink.
Good luck spotting the reindeer fly!
If you aren’t confident at navigating at night, then why not check out the details of the easily accessible Yorkshire Dales Darks Skies Discovery Sites right here!
Or simply head to a familiar spot in the park, or somewhere away from street lighting.
